Add Cookie Notices to your publication

You can use the built-in cookie management tool or add your own cookie consent tool.

Do you need to add a cookie consent tool?

Adding a cookie consent notice to your publication is not a requirement for most Wordpond publications since Wordpond does not set any non-essential cookies by default.

Our analytics, ads, and other technologies are implemented without cookie tracking.

However, suppose you're using services on your publication that use third-party cookies, such as advertising, analytics, or affiliate services. In that case, you'll need to consider adding a cookie banner to ensure your site complies with global privacy laws, including GDPR.

Additionally, local laws or company policies might require you to add a cookie management solution.

How to add a cookie consent tool?

You can choose how to add a cookie notice on your Wordpond publication:

a) use the built-in cookie management tool

b) add your own cookie consent tool, like CookieScript or others

Cookie consent management

You can find Cookie Consent under Workplace Settings (from the left nav tab). Select Cookie Consent.

On the Cookie Consent tab, you will see two main panels offering the following options:

  • Cookie consent selection.
  • Cookie consent pop-up styling

Selecting the cookie consent option

The top panel offers you five choices. By default, the selection is OFF.

You have three more choices with different levels of consent and, finally, an option to use your own cookie consent.

A panel will open, giving you options to change the pop-up's styling, the text's wording, and the call-to-actions on the buttons.

Using a third party or your own cookie management tool

Select that option from the menu to add your own cookie consent tool.

Obtain the cookie script from your vendor

Third-party cookie solutions are triggered by a script. You will be able to get this script from your vendor.

You will see a panel appear where you can enter the script. Past the script and make sure to save it.

Adapt the security policy

Wordpond's security features will block your script by default. You must adapt the Content Security Policy (CSP) to allow the script(s) from your cookie consent tool to be executed.

Adding these security exceptions is a manual step. Please make sure that any script you add is trusted.

To add the scripts as an exception to the security - go to Publication Settings > Security.

Styling the pop-up for third-party cookie tools

Note that if you use a third-party cookie tool, the pop-up styling will happen in that tool, not in the Wordpond environment.
